NEW STORY OUT: APRIL TEETH

Don’t Go Quietly by Marcela Bolívar

I am very excited to announce that my story “April Teeth” is part of the DO NOT GO QUIETLY anthology by Apex Publications.

Part of my excitement is because I am sharing a TOC with so many awesome writers. I could have never imagined being in the same anthology with even one of those people, let alone all of them.

As for how the story came to be, I already had the vague idea of a ceremony or a celebration involving teeth but I did not know how to turn it into a solid plot until the element of resistance clicked into place and the story felt completed in my head.

So if you enjoy stories about unnerving ceremonies and bloodthirsty deities, but also women who stand up for themselves, you are welcome to give this one a read!

You can buy the anthology here. Enjoy!

New Story Out: Cherry Wood Coffin is up in Apex Magazine!

Magma by Anna Dittmann

I feel very proud to have a story in issue #108 of Apex magazine this month. It will not be free to read until the 29th of May but if you are a subscriber (wink, wink) you can read it now or you can buy the issue here . I’m sharing a TOC with some amazing writers and I hope my story does it some justice.

This is a story that sprang from a prompt I read in Codex’s Weekend Warrior competition in 2017 and I am so thankful for that.

Suddenly I was stuck with this very strong image of a talking coffin and wondered what the coffin would say or ask. The answer while pretty obvious didn’t clue me in on what the plot should be about, so I let the idea shimmer for a weekend and speed-wrote the story at the last minute in its complete form.

I hope this story is as chilling as I was aiming for. Please enjoy!
